All our stones are natural. Some may be traditionally oiled (paraffin oil) and we always disclose any treatments transparently.
In terms of rarity, fine-quality emeralds can be even more rare than diamonds. While diamonds are valued for their brilliance and durability, emeralds are prized for their rich green color and unique character. Top-quality emeralds can command very high prices — sometimes exceeding that of diamonds of the same size.
Inclusions are common in emeralds and are part of what makes each stone unique. These natural features are often referred to as the emerald’s “garden” (or jardin in French). They are formed during the gemstone’s growth deep within the Earth and are considered normal, even desirable to some collectors
Yes, but with care. Emeralds are not as hard as diamonds or sapphires, and their inclusions can make them more prone to damage. It’s best to avoid heavy impacts and harsh cleaning methods. We recommend removing emerald jewelry during sports, gardening, or any rough work.
Use cold water, a soft brush, and mild soap. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaning, or harsh chemicals, especially if the emerald is treated with oil. Gently pat dry with a soft cloth.
The most desirable emerald color is a vivid, saturated green with a slight bluish undertone. However, color preference can be personal — some prefer lighter or brighter greens. A good emerald should have a balance of strong color and natural brilliance.
High-quality natural emeralds with minimal treatment and strong color can retain or even increase in value over time, especially if they are certified by reputable labs. As with all gemstones, provenance, quality, and market demand influence long-term value.
The best way to ensure authenticity is to buy from a reputable seller and request a certificate from a recognized gemological laboratory (such as GRS, SSEF, or AGL). We provide full certification and treatment disclosure with every emerald we sell.
